Signing a letter of intent – establishment startup ecosystem named „Silesian Startup Valley Of Medical Innovation”at the Silesian Park of Medical Technology Kardio-Med Silesia.

Dear Sir or Madam,

On January 17, 2020, in the Silesian Park of Medical Technolog in Zabrze a letter of intent establishing the start-up ecosystem under the name „Silesian Startup Valley of Medical Innovation”which had been created in cooperation with Silesian Voivodeship was solemnly signed. The initiated cooperation will concern activities in the area of development at the Silesian Park of Medical Technology the ecosystem of the originators and mediacal startups for Silesian Voivodeship under the name „Silesian Startup Valley of Medical Innovation” (medicine, public health, digital health including telemedicine, e-health, m-health and biotechnology).

Thanks to the modern research infrastructure of Kardio – Med Silesia – a center created on the initiative and with commitment of the Mayor of Zabrze – Małgorzata Mańka – Szulik and the profesor Marian Zembala based on the funds of the European Union – the Regional Operation Program of The Silesian Voivodeship, Priority I „Resesearch and technological development, innovations and enterpreneurship”, Action 1.3 „ Tedhnology and innovation transfer”, innovative ideas/projects will have a chance to be realized and eventually become the subject of clinical implementation.
Up till now, Kardio-Med Silesia with the suport of Zabrze has implemented projects for the amount of 52 million PLN, publishing over 30 publications.

The signing a letter of intent is evidence of appreciation of previous achievements in the field of research and implementation projects aimed at the development of innvative projects of doctors, biotechnologists, enterpreneurs, the ideas of clinicians, practicioners and researches, joint operations of experienced specialists, students and doctoral students at the Kardio-Med Silesia.

According to the assumptions of the Mayor of Zabrze – Małgorzata Mańka – Szulik and the Director of the Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze, porfessor Marian Zembala and the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship – Jakub Chełstowski, after signing the letter in the current EU financial perspective and in the next one , by 2030, intensive, joint activities will b undertaken, focusing around Kardio-Med Silesia in Zabrze innovative projects and startups in the area of health for of the entire Silesian agglomeration, creating Silesian Startup Valley of Medical Innovation. It is worth emphasizing that in the new financial perspective the MEDICINE area is one of the srategic pillars of development for the Silesian Vivodeship.
