“Implementation to surgical practice new technologies for reconstruction and regeneration of damaged tissues in the craniofacial area” (BIO-ONKO-REG)

Project co-founded by Smart Growth Programm for 2014-2020 in the framework of action 4.1.2 „Regional Science and Research Agendas”.

The aim of the project is to develop a technology of manufacturing personalized tissue scaffolds: nonbiodegradable and biodegradable to be used in a reconstruction of facial skeleton including maxillary-ethmoidal massive, hard palate, orbital cavity, and jaw. To achieve this goal the following will be wrought and combined:

• a computer program using data transferred from computed tomograph or magnetic nuclear resonance apparatus to create a target shape of the scaffold,
• a new composite materials – nonbiodegradable arisen from a conjunction of initial nonbiodegradable polymer and organic/inorganic additives, biodegradable arisen from a conjunction of initial biodegradable polymer and organic/inorganic additives,
• SLS 3D printer used to print nonbiodegradable or biodegradable scaffolds,
• performance of the process of differentiation of initial cells – stem cells and transdifferentiation of WAT into target cells – osteoblasts,
• anatomical models for a more precise planning of surgical procedures.
