Development of an Innovative Lipid Base with Radioprotective Properties

Lipid Systems Sp. z o.o. and the Silesian Park of Medical Technologies Kardio-Med Silesia have established a collaboration to implement a project co-financed by the European Funds for Silesia Program for 2021–2027, under Action 1.2. Research, Development and Innovation in Enterprises.
Project title: “Development of an Innovative Lipid Base with Radioprotective Properties”
Scope of activities to be carried out within the project:
- Designing the composition of a lipid form of TEMPOL or its derivatives, taking into account market requirements related to dosage, physiological conditions, and the requirements imposed by the technology for producing lipid aggregates at laboratory and later technical scale,
- Evaluation of the reduction of free radicals generated by high-energy radiation as a function of the concentration of TEMPOL and/or its derivatives in the presence of lipid aggregates in a model system,
- Development and validation of analytical and physicochemical methods for analyzing the composition, stability, and behavior of the lipid gel,
- Production of the developed lipid base on a larger scale in accordance with GMP principles.
Target groups:
- Oncology patients undergoing radiation therapy,
- Individuals seeking effective prevention of skin cancer, particularly those in so-called high-risk group.
Project objectives:
- The main objective of the project is to develop and strengthen research and innovation capabilities and to use advanced technologies to enhance the company’s competitive potential through R&D activities related to an innovative material with radioprotective properties.
- The research objective of the project is to develop the formula of a raw material for cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications based on TEMPOL.
Project result:
The result of the project will be an innovative preparation (lipid base) produced using the proprietary Liposhell technology, which aims, among other things, to reduce the consumption of organic waste.
Project value:
- Total project cost: PLN 11,829,334.12
- Amount of European Funds contribution: PLN 9,536,399.15
