The end of the week drives further action in medicine!

On May 18-19, 2023, the Silesian Innovation Festival was held at the Silesian Stadium during which experts presented the possibilities of support for research and development activities.

On the first day of the festival there was a conference devoted to financial and non-financial support for innovation, during which members of such organizations as: the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy – Ms. Aneta Szczepkowska, the National Center for Research and Development – Ms. Maria Nalewajko, and the Silesian University of Technology, represented by Ms. Katarzyna Markiewicz-Śliwa, presented their speeches. The presentations were aimed at showing the perspectives, for FENG projects the Smart path or Horizons of Europe, enabling the acquisition of high funding to support innovative science and implementation projects.

The second part of the day featured a panel discussion session on the role and potentials of start’ups in the Silesian province, with the participation of:

Jacek Bukowicki, Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, Certified International Startup Mentor,
Jacek Kotra, Director, Park Naukowo-Technologiczny “TECHNOPARK GLIWICE” Sp. z o.o.,
Robert Bielenia, Invento VC Fund,
Katarzyna Papież-Pawełczak, CEO of SPIN-US Sp. z o.o,
Jakub Nagórski, co.brick, President of Silesian Startup Foundation.
During the discussion, numerous problems and their solutions, related to the development of Polish startup companies, were raised.
The second day of the festival featured numerous workshops and panels on a variety of topics, including Scientific and Technological Potential for the Space Sector with the participation of the Silesian Science and Technology Center of the Aerospace Industry, and Women in Innovation.

During the panel hosted by MedSilesia Cluster – Silesian Medical Devices Network “Together for innovative medicine”, the topics of tax credits for innovation in the medtech industry (Ms. Ewa Flor – Tax Consultancy Ewa Flor), MedSilesia Cluster activities in the field of internationalization and support opportunities for companies (Ms. Izabela Czeremcha) and support for the commercialization process (Dr. Paweł Lejman) were introduced.

Heartfelt thanks to the Host of the event – the Marshal’s Office of the Silesian Voivodeship, for the invitation and the opportunity to present the potential of Silesian Park of Medical Technologies Kardio-Med Silesia in Zabrze, at such an interesting event, bringing together members of the medical and technological industry.
