MONITEL-HF – NCBiR

The use of medical data in teletransmission in order to improve the quality of patient’s life with heart failure and the reduction of the cost of their treatment – Project MONITEL-HF” – team leader Professor Lech Poloński, MD PhD FESC (The Silesian Center for Heart Diseases and the Medical University of Silesia).

This project aims to improve the quality of life of patients with heart failure, the population of whom  is around 2 million in Poland, as well as a significant financial savings due to the reduction of hospitalisation. Currently, heart failure is the leading cause of hospitalisation in Poland and the cost of hospital treatment in this group of patients represents 60 – 70% of the total cost of treatment failures reported by The National Health Fund.

The efforts to reduce hospitalisations and hospital shift to cheaper treatment – ambulatory – seem to be appropriate. To achieve this goal there is a need to provide patients with an effective monitoring system for current assessment and modification of cardiovascular treatment. Therefore, the telemedicine techniques extensively developed both in Europe and around the world will be used in the presented project.

This project would be carried out in a consortium with other research institutions and enterprises, among which was the Kardio-Med Silesia. The Project has started in September 2014.
