In addition, there are research and pre-clinical trials (cellular tests and animal models: mice, rats, rabbits, cavia (guinea pigs), pig and sheep) conducted in our centre.

The KMS animal quarters are equipped with the IVC unit system – individually ventilated cages furnished in HEPA filters, placed on shelves. All installations in the animal quarters are integrated with the BMS (Building Management System), which is designed to control and monitor the correct operation of the installation through continuous monitoring of environmental and technical parameters in the quarters.

Kardio-Med Silesia created the Tissues and Cells Bank in the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standard. In our Bank, we conduct work on stem cells and iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cells).

Using IPSC cells, a unique research centre is created in KMS, which makes use of the potential of these cells to study civilization and environmental diseases, and attempts are made to develop innovative therapies:

• Using differentiated iPSC to cardiomyocytes (cardiac cells) to examine and treat various diseases (not only heart diseases but also toxicity studies of anticancer drugs),
• Using differentiated iPSC to neurons – Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS),
• Using differentiated iPSC – to hepatocytes (liver cells) or ear ciliary cells – toxicity of the substance research (analysis of environmental hazards presence),
• Using myeloid cells in regenerative medicine (BID-PRINT, 3D PRINT – face reconstruction) – studying biocompatibility of cell scaffolds and creating functional substitutes for damaged tissues.
